Semi-annually the leadership team will set the Company KPIs. Quarterly team leads will se their Team OKRs. Strategic planning runs on the quarter system (Q1 → Q4). Counter-intuitively the process for a given quarter starts the quarter before because our team leads need time for planning. The process is broken down into 3 phases.

1. Company Planning

Semi-Annually: Q4 Y1, month 3, week 1


One month before the start of the next half year (H1 & H2), the leadership team will start strategizing what the Company KPIs should be. This process will take 2 weeks. Once they are locked in we will announce them to the company over Slack and enter phase 2.

2. Team Planning

Quarterly: Q4 Y1, month 3, week 3


2 weeks before the start of the next quarter, each team leader will reflect on the current quarter’s results and start building their OKRs. This process should take about 2 weeks and include the following:

  1. Team leaders review the results of the current quarter and report learnings / findings
  2. Team leaders collaborate with each other to identify where their respective teams can contribute to the Company KPIs.
  3. Each team leader proposes their OKRs to their manager
  4. The manager reviews the proposed Team OKRs and provides feedback when needed
  5. The team lead locks in their OKRs

3. Operating

Quarterly: Q1 Y2, month 1, week 1
